On Monday, July 2nd the first participants consisting of the Mars Institute and Simon Fraser University advance team along with Nunavut participants arrived on Devon Island at the HMP Research Station situated next to the Haughton Crater. Their arrival marks the beginning of six weeks of intense research. Conditions at the HMP Research Station are excellent and as of last night our communications systems are operational. This year we are expecting over 60 participants from the following organizations; the Canadian Space Agency, Buffalo State College, Hamilton Sundstrand, Mars Institute, McGill University, Morehead State University, NASA Ames Research Center, NASA Johnson Space Center, National Space Biomedical Research Institute, Simon Fraser University, The Challenger Center for Space Exploration, University of Aberdeen, Universtiy of Florida, University of Guelph, University of Ottawa and Wyle Labs. In the coming weeks you'll learn about each of the projects, browse the biographies of participants and watch what happens through our webcams.
