Stephen Braham Function: Deputy Lead, Canadian PI, and Chief Engineer Affiliation: Simon Fraser University Steve is an exploration scientist, who concentrates on the design and implementation of techniques and technologies for the human exploration of the Moon, Mars, and other planetary surfaces. As the Chief Engineer for HMP, he leads the implementation of the Exploration Program, as well as the day to day systems required to keep the research station in touch with the rest of the world, safety communications and research communications around in the HMP research region, and support of all systems within the station. He is the Deputy Lead of HMP. He is internationally known for his work on Cislunar and Deep Space communications systems, both radio technologies and protocols, including collaborative mission management techniques, and has a PhD in Theoretical Physics. He is known in Canada for his work in involving Canadians in "Big E" analogue field activities, and for his work to promote Canadian involvement in human space exploration activities. He leads the Exploration Systems Operations Centre and PolyLAB at Simon Fraser University, where he is an Adjunct Professor. He is a member of the Canadian Space Agency Space Exploration Advisory Committee and the European Space Agency Wireless Data On-board Spacecraft Working Group. |
