Kevin Williams Function: Co-Investigator Affiliation: Buffalo State College Dr. Williams began a faculty position at Buffalo State College in Buffalo, NY in Fall 2006 after completing a 4 year post-doctoral research position at the Smithsonian Institution's National Air and Space Museum in Washington D.C. He received his Ph.D. from Arizona State University in 2002. Kevin's research is in near surface geophysics and planetary geology. He is currently mapping an area on Mars using recent images from Mars orbiters, and he has conducted ground penetrating radar studies of Mars-analog terrains on Earth. Kevin is pleased to be collaborating with researchers from McGill University to use geophysical techniques (resistivity and ground penetrating radar) to study ground ice. At the HMP Research Station, Kevin will be assisting Tim Haltigin (McGill U.) in acquiring helicopter-based images of ice wedges. He will also be collecting ground penetrating radar data of the permafrost active layer as it melts. GPR data will also be collected over ground ice for comparison to data collected at several other Arctic locations. |
