Field Report

July 16, 2002 - Haughton Crater, Devon Island, Nunavut

We had a great today. The weather was incredible with a high of 17°C and the forecast is for this weather to last at least a couple more days. Several traverses were completed including Chief Biologist Charlie Cockell leading a group to Lake Trinity to continue our biology research. As well Gordon 'Oz' Osinski will be heading out all day with his assistant Nesha Trenmholm to continue mapping the Haughton Crater.

The Arthur Clarke Mars Greenhouse is nearing completion. Tomorrow we'll put up the last panels on the front of the greenhouse and then do some finishing touches before we inaugurate it tomorrow night. We had one flight in today from Resolute with more provisions and equipment including a modified all terrain vehicle (ATV) to be used by a team of researchers from NASA Ames Research Center.

We also have 3 webcams online. You can watch the construction of the greenhouse and other activities.
