Field Report

July 18, 2002 - Haughton Crater, Devon Island, Nunavut

After last night's rain storm sunshine broke throught the clouds late this afternoon. The winds are still gusting around 15 knots but it is a beautiful evening.

Today's primary activities included testing of the NASA AMES Mobile Exploration System (MEX-HORSE) and the scouting for locations to fly the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV). Tomorrow several traverses are planned and if the weather is good the first test flight of the UAV will be attempted. We should also be getting a flight in from Resolute with new participants and equipment.

We deployed the first sensor in the greenhouse last night as an initial 1 day test. The greenhouse withstood the winds with ease and was dry. No planes are scheduled to come in today.
