HMP Research Station Field Update July 27, 2005
Welcome to the World Little Guy Today we heard from our former Deputy Research Station Manager Joe Amarualik that he and Melanie Howell, another HMP Research Station alumni, had a beautiful baby son, born on July 23. Congratulations Joe and Melanie, we wish the three of you the best. Today was another beautiful day at the HMP Research Station as there was little wind, warm temperatures and even a little sun at times. We had one departure and four new arrivals bringing our total here to 27 right now. Today's ongoing research activities included geology and geochemistry as well as planetary geology by several researchers including Dr. John Parnell and his assistant Paula Lindgren of the University of Aberdeen, and two Mars Institute interns Sophie Caro of the University of Paris and Gordon DeVore of Humboldt State University. Today we also began to prep the Mars-1 Humvee Rover for its upcoming traverses by removing its traditional tires and installing its all terrain Mattracks. Also today Dr. Jeff Jones today offers a report on his telemedicine session yesterday with a photo report. |
