HMP Communications Tent

The weather continues to cooperate as blue skies and relatively high temperatures provide a comfortable atmosphere for setting up base camp. After receiving one flight each of the last two days we are now up to 16 in camp. New arrivals include Tom Graham a greenhouse systems specialist from the University of Guelph, Trish Garner from Simon Fraser University working as a networking/communications assistant, geologist Gordon "Oz" Osinski, Rhoda Akeeagok an Inuit student from Griese Fiord and Sandy Salluviniq, field assistant from Resolute Bay.

The first few days of field camp are always used to get base camp setup. This is a relatively straight forward process. An assessment is made of our infrastructure to see how it weathered the winter and then we proceed. Everything was in general good order and setup proceeded smoothly. The mess tent, office tent and greenhouse all were in good condition. We then setup the tool tent, communications tent and of course the "washrooms".

Today on the flight that came in was our communication gear including the satellite dish. Internet connectivity is expected as early as Monday night or Tuesday morning.
